The Establishment and Vision of Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)
The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) began its journey through the ANRF Act, 2023 (25 of 2023). Starting from February 5, 2024, ANRF now leads India’s efforts to advance scientific research and innovation. As the country’s top research body, ANRF guides the direction of scientific research across India. First and foremost, ANRF works to build strong research habits in India’s educational and research spaces. The foundation actively supports universities, colleges, research centers, and R&D labs to create new ideas and discoveries. Through this support, ANRF helps make research and innovation a natural part of India’s learning environment.
How ANRF Gets Its Funding
The foundation relies on several sources to fund its work. The central government provides grants and loans, while public and private companies contribute donations. Additionally, ANRF receives money from charitable organizations and international groups. The foundation also grows its funds through smart investments and recovers money from past grants. Moreover, ANRF now manages the money that was previously handled by the Science and Engineering Research Board Act, 2008.
Two main groups run ANRF: the Governing Board (GB) and the Executive Council (EC). The GB charts the course for ANRF and watches over its progress. Meanwhile, the EC puts the foundation’s plans into action. Together, these groups make sure ANRF achieves its goals effectively.
Current Progress and Future Impact
Since starting its work, ANRF has quickly launched several programs. These programs match the government’s goals to strengthen India’s research abilities. The foundation brings together universities and industries to work on new discoveries.
Looking ahead, ANRF is ready to change how India approaches research. Through its work, the foundation helps India move closer to becoming a world leader in research and innovation. By supporting new ideas and scientific excellence, ANRF plays a key role in advancing India’s technological growth.
