Nowcasting combines “now” and “forecasting” to predict weather and economic conditions in the near future. In meteorology, it predicts weather within hours using real-time data. In economics, it updates lagging indicators with recently published data. The World Meteorological Organization defines nowcasting for weather as forecasts up to six hours ahead.
