Use of AI in agriculture
The Government leverages AI in agriculture to tackle its challenges and support farmers through key initiatives:
- Kisan e-Mitra is an AI-powered chatbot. It assists farmers with PM Kisan Samman Nidhi queries in multiple languages. It is also expanding to cover other government programs that involve AI advances in agriculture.
- National Pest Surveillance System uses AI and Machine Learning to detect pest infestations, minimizing crop losses from climate change. This is a significant example of it’s applications in agriculture.
- AI-driven analytics assess crop health using field images and satellite data. They also use weather patterns and soil moisture levels. These technologies are used for monitoring rice and wheat, showing the role of AI in agriculture.
