What is the Buddhist concept of ‘Mudita’?
Meditation instructor Jack Kornfield describes Mudita as the joy and happiness felt for both oneself and others. Mudita is one of the four exalted states or heart practices in Buddhism, known as the brahma viharas. These also include loving-kindness (metta), compassion, and equanimity. Remembering the word ‘Mudita’ can help cultivate this joy.
